Rocklumìna is a patented sculptural light object developed through the relationship between flame-worked borosilicate glass, Italian rock salt crystals, and illumination. Conceived as a quiet presence rather than a conventional lamp, the piece diffuses light through mineral matter, allowing the crystals to soften and transform the glow from within.
The piece is composed of separate removable elements that rest together without permanent connection:
The double-wall borosilicate glass is flame-worked and shaped without molds. The inner glass cylinder separates the light source from the mineral chamber, allowing the crystals to remain visually exposed while the electrical function stays contained and protected.
Between the two glass layers, selected Italian rock salt crystals diffuse the light with a soft mineral glow. In the Natural Salt version, the color comes from the natural clarity of the crystals themselves. In colored versions, the crystals are individually treated with mineral and botanical pigments.
An integrated removable humidity-absorbing element helps manage the natural moisture released by the salt under normal domestic conditions, supporting material stability and long-term performance.
Every detail results from a precise design process in which technical necessity, material research, and artisanal gesture coexist in a single object of light.
Rocklumìna was awarded the Green Product Award and is part of the permanent design collection of SaloneSatellite, Salone del Mobile Milano. The work was also included in Sate…Light 1998-2022, curated by Marva Griffin.
