Cochlea dello Sviluppo is one of the foundational designs within the Cochlea Collection, inspired by the gentle movement of a land snail. The vase expresses a phase of growth and structural balance, where stability is achieved through two equivalent supports.
The piece is composed of three independent elements that rest together without adhesives or permanent fixings:
– one hand-shaped borosilicate glass vessel
– two mineral stone columns supporting the glass
The glass is flame-worked and curved entirely by hand, without molds.
The stone, gradually sculpted until a precise structural fit with the glass is achieved, draws inspiration from Roman mineral craftsmanship traditions and is developed through proprietary mineral-based processes, without cement or synthetic binders. Surface protection is achieved through layered natural oil treatments, manually applied and allowed to cure slowly over time. No synthetic sealants or industrial coatings are used.
