Named after the Latin word cochlea — meaning snail, but also the spiraling chamber of the inner ear — this collection is a meditation on balance, fragility, and transformation.
Each piece draws from the lifecycle of land snails and the fluid geometry of their bodies. The forms are composed of three interlocking elements — two in hand-shaped stone, one in curved flame-worked glass — united without glue or fixings. This quiet assembly evokes impermanence: the pieces hold together not by force, but by fit and care.
The material itself speaks of patience. Our signature stone is made from pure Italian mineral fragments and botanical pigments, mixed and sun-dried following ancient principles, without cement or industrial binders. The glass, bent by hand, flows like a body in motion before resting into stillness.
Cochlea invites reflection on how we evolve and hold ourselves — physically, emotionally, structurally. Each object suggests a presence that is both soft and grounded, vulnerable yet whole.
Patented design. Each piece is part of a traceable series, identified by a unique serial code since 2020.
Coki Barbieri personally sculpts each piece using a unique stone composite developed in our laboratory, called Anthologia—derived from the Latin term for "collection of flowers." This composite is made by combining the finest fragments of Coki's favorite stones. Importantly, the compound contains no cement, glue, or industrially derived aggregates. The entire production process follows the ancient techniques of the Romans and the Middle Ages, including the 100% plant-based treatment applied to the external surface. The process involves eight types of handwork, including solar drying and manual tools, with minimal use of electrical tools to reduce preparation time.
All stone parts are sculpted by Coki Barbieri, and all glass parts are made by our glassblowers. Each component is custom-made to fit the other, ensuring a perfect fit. The clarity of the borosilicate glass is combined with the opacity of the stone, which always has unique details, traces, holes.
